During year 1 of level 3 creative media, I have storyboarded, scripted, produced, and edited a film review video using Adobe Premiere Pro, and a radio package using Adobe Audition (that I hosted). I have also done various themes of photography, Photoshop editing using Adobe Photoshop, created a website, and created detailed graphics using Adobe Illustrator.
The skills I have gained are: Premiere Pro editing, Advanced graphic design, Celtx script writing, Photoshop editing, web design, Adobe Audition editing, storyboarding, composition.
Skills I don’t have: Animation and videography.
I have chosen my final major project because I enjoy graphic design and films (experiencing a good story). Plus, I will gain experience in various difference skills including - More experience in graphic design, story writing, storyboarding and scripting.
My project will be a physical comic book. I will also put it in video format and uploaded to my YouTube channel.
My comic book will be a short mystery thriller, based around a character with schizophrenia.
This story is about Tom, who has schizophrenia. Tom lives alone in an apartment that he recently rented in the outskirts of a town, near a city (where his new job is at). His schizophrenia is severe to the point it prevents him from having a normal social life, and even with medication, he still experiences symptoms.
Tom one day wakes up late for work and while rushing to get ready, he drops his meds down the toilet and loses them. He lets it slide this one time and plans to get more at the pharmacy after work. From that point on his reality turns upside down, going slowly more and more insane as the story goes on.
I will need to research schizophrenia and watch simulation videos on YouTube to get an understanding of the symptoms and how people deal with it and how it affects them. This will prevent me from showing disrespect by providing misinformation.
I will also need to read many different types of comic books to get an understanding of graphic layout, and how they are written etc.
The resources I will need are Adobe Premiere Pro, Celtx, Internet, and a computer. Other resources include pencils, storyboard pages and a printer.
I will present my project within 3 months.
I will be evaluating my work week by week during the making process of my product, and at the completion of my product at the end of May.
I will be recording weekly vlogs reviewing what I’ve done that week. Talking about any progress I’ve made, what section of my project I will be working on next, new skills I have learnt, and if I’m happy with my work so far.
I will also be regularly taking screengrabs of my work too.
When my project is complete, I will be summarizing and reviewing everything I’ve done, what I’ve improved on and what new skills I have learnt and if I am happy about my project or not.
